Trackers
Cookies and local storage
Last updated October 16, 2026
01The short version
OpenTahr uses no advertising cookies and no tracking tools for commercial purposes.
The site uses two kinds of storage. The first is storage strictly needed to run the service. Under article 82 of the French Data Protection Act and the CNIL guidelines, it does not require prior consent. The second is an audience measurement tool (Google Analytics) that depends on your consent. It sets no cookie and collects no data until you click Accept in the banner shown on your first visit. Refusing is as easy as accepting and changes nothing about how you browse the site.
02Storage we use
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| ot-theme | localStorage | Remember your display preference (light or dark) | Until you delete it |
| Session tokens | Cookie / localStorage | Keep you signed in to your account (authentication) | Session length, renewed when you sign in |
| API keys | localStorage | Keep your keys on your device so you can use the tools. They are never sent to our servers | Until you delete them |
| Tool settings and connections | localStorage | Remember your tool settings, writing guidelines and the third-party connections you add (for example Search Console or DataForSEO). They are never sent to our servers | Until you delete them |
| Work and conversations | IndexedDB | Keep your audits, conversations and deliverables on your device | Until you delete them |
| ot-consent | localStorage | Remember your audience measurement choice (accept or refuse) so we don't ask you on every visit | 6 months, then we ask again |
| _ga, _ga_* | Cookies (Google Analytics) | Audience measurement, to understand which pages are read and how the site is used. Set only after you agree | 13 months at most |
| Push subscription | Service Worker / Push API | Receive the notifications you turned on yourself in your account. No message contains personal data | Until you turn it off |
None of this data is used to follow you from one site to another, and none of it is shared with ad networks.
03Third-party services
Google Analytics 4 (audience measurement, only with your consent). If you accept it, the service is provided by Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). We set it up to protect you. The Google script loads only after you click Accept and Google's consent mode is set to denied by default. Cookies last 13 months at most and data retention at Google is set to the shortest period available. Data may be transferred to the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which Google is certified under. You can withdraw your consent at any time with the Manage cookies link in the footer. Google Analytics then stops loading on the pages you open next. The _ga cookies already set stay in your browser until they expire, unless you delete them in your browser settings.
The fonts of the site and of the workspace are hosted on our own servers, so browsing them sends no request to Google Fonts or to any other font provider. Some deliverables you generate, such as ebook previews and the websites made with the Website builder, load their fonts from Google Fonts when you open them, because their own files declare it.
Tutorial videos inside the workspace are embedded from youtube-nocookie.com, the privacy-enhanced mode of YouTube. The player loads from YouTube's servers when the tool page opens and, according to YouTube, sets no cookie before you play the video. Each tutorial can be closed for good with its Close button.
When you use a tool with your API keys, your browser talks directly to the provider you chose. Any cookies or trackers from those providers fall under their own policies.
04Manage or delete this data
You can do any of the following at any time.
- Change your audience measurement choice with the Manage cookies link in the footer of every page. The banner opens again. An Accept applies right away and a Decline applies from the next page you open.
- Delete your API keys from the dedicated tab in your workspace.
- Export and then erase your work from your workspace settings.
- Erase all local data in your browser settings (Privacy, then Clear browsing data or Cookies and site data).
Be aware that clearing your browser data also deletes your saved keys and your local work. Export anything you want to keep first.
05Changes to this page
Any new tool that needs consent will follow the same rule. The choice will be free, informed, given beforehand and as easy to refuse as to accept, as the CNIL requires. This page is updated with every change, and the date at the top is the reference.
